The larger furniture stores will often have extensive online catalogs that you can view from the convenience of your own home.
2.) Get your inspiration from the real world. Go to local furniture and home improvement stores. Furniture stores in particular, have many displays of mock bedrooms, kitchens, and bathrooms. Strolling though these will give you a good feel for a particular look. While books and magazines will expose you to more examples, nothing beats the real world for actually experiencing a particular ambience.
Next time you’re visiting friends or relatives, keep your eyes peeled. Don’t hesitate to ask questions since most people would be flattered to give advice or information about where they bought their furniture.
3.) Google images. Go to Google.com and click on the images link on the upper left of the page. Enter the phrase “home decorating ideas” and click the search button. At the time of writing this article, I have found over 2.8 million image results. The variety of styles that you can find this way are literally endless.

After eliminating the clutter, it is time to rearrange the furniture. It would be wise to plan this out first by taking measurements of the room as well as the largest furniture. Then you’ll want to make rectangular paper cutouts that represent your large furniture. These will be placed within a rectangle drawn on graph paper that represents the room.
Depending on the rooms dimensions, each grid line on the graph paper can represent 6 inches, a foot, or two feet. Use a second graph paper to make the furniture cutouts. You can try different furniture layouts on paper first before committing yourself.
Furniture arrangement tends to focus on a certain part of the room. For example, if the sofa is facing a TV set, then the TV is the center of attention of the people sitting on the sofa. You can change the center of attention to a different spot and then reorient the sofa and tables and chairs to face it.
For a more radical change, you could make a different object the center of attention. If you’d like your family to be more social, then make a coffee table the focus of attention. In this case the sofa and chairs circle around the table. This means that people will be facing each other.
Once finished with one room, do this with the other rooms. Now you have a ‘new’ home that has been transformed and revitalized.
